
Strengthening the industry together: Why apprentices are essential for engineering and manufacturing businesses
At The HEX Group, having six different divisions is a dream come true for our expert graphic designer Matt Lambert. Needing a unique look and feel, but retaining a strong sense of Group is an exciting challenge for our design dynamo – one which he makes look anything but difficult.
Since joining the marketing team in April 2024, Matt has embraced the variety and fast paced environment of Group marketing – from designing bespoke vehicle wraps to event branding, every project he delivers is visual perfection.
His most recent project, for example, involved working closely with HEX Graphics to complete Bri-Stor Systems’ new Centre of Excellence interior branding. His attention to detail, colour scheme, and overall visuals have truly brought the facility to life creating a welcoming yet informative environment for colleagues to develop their skills.
Working in a varied role, where no two days looking the same, Matt is a pro when it comes to all forms of design. To further develop his skills, he is currently completing a motion graphics course supported by The HEX Group’s ELEVATE programme.
Having discovered his passion for graphic design during his GCSEs, Matt brings a wealth of experience to The HEX Group, including a Graphic Design degree from the University of Salford. His skillset knows no bounds, but he particularly enjoys projects where he can start completely fresh and exercise creative freedom.
We caught up with Matt to ask what he enjoys most about his role at The HEX Group. He shared:
“I love my role. I’ve had the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across the business some that I’ve done before, and others that are completely new to me.
“Some of the most exciting projects have included festival branding, vehicle wraps, and full interior branding things. All things I never thought I’d have the chance to work on.
“The HEX Group is a fantastic place to work. After freelancing before joining, it’s great to be part of a company that genuinely cares about its colleagues. The HEX Ideas Hub, where colleagues can suggest business ideas and initiatives, is a great example of this.
“Almost a year into my role, I’m excited to see what else I’ll get to design and how I can continue expanding my skills. Being given the opportunity to take an animation course is a huge win for me – it’s something I’ve always been passionate about, and I know it will strengthen what I have to offer.”
When Matt isn’t being our in-house design guru, he enjoys spending time with his two children, traveling, and cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
