With six companies making up The HEX Group, there is a huge number of transactions and accounting needed to keep everything on track.

Making the move from helping refurbish vehicles, taking them apart and aiding in repairing components and parts is Charlie Roberts.

Charlie plays a crucial role as the Group Accounts Clerk - Purchase Ledger, part of the team ensuring the financial gears of our operations run smoothly.

Charlie joined Bri-Stor Systems in July 2022, and while he has been learning the ropes in our accounts department since his move in July 2023, his journey here is a testament to the diverse opportunities within The HEX Group.

Starting on the shop floor, Charlie quickly recognised the vast potential and opportunities across The HEX Group. His journey from working with vehicles on the shop floor to a desk job in finance is both inspiring and a great example of how initiative can pave the way for new career paths.

"When I first joined the company, I wasn't necessarily committed to a long-term role on the shop floor," Charlie shared. "I knew that Bri-Stor Systems and The HEX Group as a whole offered numerous avenues for career development. I heard about the accounts department, and that's where my heart was set from the beginning. Ever since I left school, I aspired to work in accounting."

Charlie's dedication and enthusiasm for accounting eventually led him to his current position within the accounts department, where he's been making a significant impact for the past few months.

Bri-Stor Systems was Charlie's first job since leaving school. He took the initiative to gain hands-on experience within the company, not waiting for a specific role to open up in his chosen career path. Charlie advises others looking to join The HEX Group to follow a similar approach. "Just get your foot in the door," he suggests. "If you aren't sure about your ideal role or if there are no vacancies in your desired field, gaining hands-on experience and showing your eagerness can go a long way. Make it known that you'd like to be considered for a position when it becomes available."

Charlie's role as Group Accounts Clerk - Purchase Ledger is pivotal in the team that ensures smooth financial operations within our company. His average day is filled with the critical task of processing invoices for all departments of The HEX Group, primarily focusing on Bri-Stor Systems. While it's not a highly hectic environment, precision and attentiveness are crucial to success in this role. Accuracy is paramount when dealing with financial records and transactions.

Charlie has clear aspirations when asked about his future goals at Bri-Stor Systems. "I aim to progress within the industry," he says, "and I plan to work towards qualifications in accounting, such as completing my AAT up to a level 4 and gain a qualification in accounting." This vision for the future is a testament to Charlie's commitment to both personal and professional growth, aligning perfectly with the values and culture here at The HEX Group.

Charlie's career change from the shop floor to the accounts department is a shining example of how taking the initiative and demonstrating dedication can open doors to exciting opportunities.
