Meet the Team – Anna Hamer
Driving Innovation and Excellence: The Role of New Product Development at The HEX Group
Joining us in 2022, Imy is learning her trade in the first year of her apprenticeship at The HEX Group.
Understanding how things work has always been a passion for Imy – from being interested in how prosthetics work to benefit lives to understanding the very chemistry that makes us.
Imy learned about The HEX Group apprenticeships and Bri-Stor Systems by chance; she stumbled across a Facebook advert. After visiting our facilities and meeting our Apprenticeship Team, Imy was sold on the programme.
Like all the best ideas, things didn’t go to plan for Imy initially. She struggled and felt lost, unsure if she’d made a mistake. It’s at that point, with plenty of support from our apprenticeship team, Imy started to make real progress.
Fast forward nearly a year, and Imy is now the proud winner of the ‘Apprentice Exceptional Progress Award’ at the JCB Academy, becoming the first apprentice from The HEX Group to win a JCB Academy Award!
For now, Imy has got her sights on the immediate future. Talking about what she is working on currently, Imy shares…
“As I’m an apprentice, we all work on rotation. So, I get the chance to work in various roles within Bri-Stor Systems and gain knowledge in all the relevant areas. At the moment, I am on the production line fitting out vehicles, and in a couple of weeks, I will be doing some electrical work which I am looking forward to.”
Talking about the future, she adds….
“I think I would like to go on to do a higher apprenticeship and earn a degree. I want to keep learning new skills and broaden my knowledge.”
Outside of work, Imy keeps herself to herself, spending time with her friends, listening to music, cooking and baking. Imy is also taking on the impressive task of learning Polish.
Imy is infectiously positive, sharing her advice for those in a similar position to the beginning of her apprenticeship…
“Never give up when negative opinions come your way. Only you know what it is you want to achieve.
“We all struggle with things, but getting through the struggles will only empower you to keep trying new things and to step out of your comfort zone.”
The progress you’ve made so far Imy is amazing! We can’t wait to see how you continue to grow through our apprenticeship programme.
