Meet Will & Grace, our amazing apprenticeship team
The skills gap in our industry is no secret, especially regarding niche roles in regions with limited talent pools, such as Staffordshire. Bringing apprentices into your business isn’t just a solution – it’s an investment in the future. Apprenticeships offer a sustainable way to close critical skills gaps while fostering a strong and adaptable workforce.
With over 15 years of experience and more than 200 young people trained, we’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative power of apprenticeships. Many of our senior team members began their careers here at just 16 years old, and their journeys speak volumes about the potential of well-structured apprenticeship programmes.
Through collaborations with manufacturing businesses like Robust UK, we’ve developed a trusted managed apprenticeship model. Our approach eliminates the hassle typically associated with creating and managing an apprenticeship scheme, providing businesses with a seamless way to nurture talent.
More than just skills development
While having the right training facilities and partners is essential for launching an apprenticeship programme, that’s only half the battle. A dedicated apprenticeship team is often the missing piece—and neglecting this can undermine both a programme’s success and apprentice retention.
At The HEX Group, we don’t just train apprentices; we invest in their overall well-being and happiness. Transitioning from full-time education to the workplace is a significant leap for young adults, and we take this transition very seriously.
Our dedicated apprenticeship team combines vast experience with a passion for guiding young people, ensuring every apprentice feels supported and valued. This team is the cornerstone of our success with both our apprentices and those of partners like Robust UK.
Mentoring: The foundation of success
Apprentices enter the workplace brimming with energy and enthusiasm. Yet, many leave behind the structure and friendships they’ve built in school. One-to-one mentoring is crucial during this time of change, providing apprentices with the support they need to thrive.
Mutual support is key for an apprenticeship to truly benefit your business. This includes not only professional guidance but also fostering personal growth.
Teamwork: Building bonds
Forming connections is an integral part of an apprentice’s journey. To encourage this, our team hosts regular social events from day one, helping apprentices bond and establish the relationships that will sustain them through their careers.
Self-Discovery: A transformational journey
A highlight of the year for our first-year apprentices is the annual residential trip. This three-day adventure is a cornerstone of our programme, designed to push apprentices beyond their comfort zones. Through activities that challenge their mental, physical, and teamwork skills, apprentices discover new strengths, build resilience, and form friendships that last a lifetime.
A commitment to care
The success of any apprenticeship programme depends on creating a nurturing environment. Whether they are our apprentices or those from partner businesses, we treat all apprentices with the same level of care and support. By focusing on their personal and professional development, we ensure they leave our programme as confident, skilled, and community-minded individuals.
With a holistic approach to apprenticeships, The HEX Group continues to craft careers with care, shaping the next generation of industry leaders.
