Starting his journey with The HEX Group as an apprentice in 2017, we are incredibly proud of Ewan, who has recently taken the next step in his career by joining the Accelerate Programme.

Accelerate is an exciting new initiative at The HEX Group, designed to recognise exceptional individuals as rising stars and support their growth through a structured programme.

Over the next three years, Ewan will be studying for a BA (Hons) Professional degree at Staffordshire University. Alongside his academic pursuits, he will complete a three-year rotation within the business, gaining exposure to various departments across The HEX Group. This hands-on experience will enhance his skill set and prepare him for future opportunities.

Ewan is currently in his sales rotation, following his time in the costings department. He now works with the internal sales team, managing the build process for our internal operations, where his previous experience as a quality engineer has proven invaluable.

Beyond his role, Ewan has immersed himself in his studies. His first module focuses on professional skills, covering topics such as communication, emotional intelligence, empathy, motivation, and corporate social responsibility. With a mix of online and in-person lectures, he is embracing this new phase of education with enthusiasm.

Reflecting on his experience, Ewan shared:

“I feel incredibly grateful to be part of this unique opportunity. Starting at The HEX Group straight from school as an apprentice, I’ve always been inspired by the development opportunities here.

“From a 16-year-old with no engineering experience to being selected as a rising star, it’s amazing to reflect on the journey I’ve had.

“Although it was bittersweet to step away from my role as a quality engineer, it’s great to see the business from new perspectives. Even though I’ve only been part of the Accelerate Programme since September, I’ve already learned so much.

“Returning to education after leaving school at 16 has been a challenge, but the support from both Staffordshire University and The HEX Group has made the transition seamless. It’s also great to be studying with others in similar positions as me in their careers.

“I’m enjoying the fast-paced environment of the sales department, where no two days are the same. I’m excited about the remaining rotations, which will take me through various departments, including marketing, engineering and business improvement.

“Out of all the rotations, I’m most looking forward to returning to the shop floor in production. I loved my time there as an apprentice, and I can’t wait to work alongside the team again at the heart of our operations.”
